These frames will be sent to non-profit organizations such as; the “Miami Lighthouse for The Blind and Visually Impaired,” where their goal is to provide vision rehabilitation and eye health services to the low-income communities of South Florida.

Alex Williams, the President of DECA said “We are excited to develop this project as we have seen a need in our community to ensure those who glasses have them.”

Frames will be being collected over the next month during and after school hours. Many of us still have our old eye glasses sitting around the house collecting dust. Now is the time to make a difference and put those old frames to good use.

Block 1 -- Graphs and Charts

BLOCK 1 -- Applications
"Graphs and Charts"

Academy of Marketing Management

Graphs and charts are great because they communicate information visually. For this reason, graphs are often used in newspapers, magazines and businesses around the world. Businesses constantly use graphs and charts in publications and on the web. Sometimes, complicated information is difficult to understand and needs an illustration. Other times, a graph or chart helps impress people by getting your point across quickly and visually.

There are all kinds of charts and graphs, some are easy to understand while others can be pretty tricky. There are many different types because each one has a fairly specific use. Bar graphs can be used to show how something changes over time or to compare items. They have an x-axis (horizontal) and a y-axis (vertical). Typically, the x-axis has numbers for the time period or what is being measured, and the y-axis has numbers for the amount of stuff being measured. Bar graphs are good when you're plotting data that spans many years (or days, weeks...), has really big changes from year to year (or day to day...), or when you are comparing things.

Project Manager Group Activity - Block 1

The Academy of Marketing Management

Group Activity: Project Manager

Project Manager: The person with authority to manage a project. This includes leading the planning and the development of all project deliverables (Items to be graded). It is the discipline of organizing and managing resources (people) in such a way that the project is completed within defined scope. It is a professional in the field of project management - having the responsibility of the planning and execution of any project.

Almost any human activity that involves carrying out a non-repetitive task can be a project. So we are all project managers! We all practice Project Management, but there is a big difference between carrying out a very simple project involving one or two people and one involving a complex mix of people, organizations and tasks.

This has been true for millennia, but large-scale projects like the Pyramids often used rather simple control and resource techniques including brute force to 'motivate' the workforce! The art of planning for the future has always been a human trait. In essence a project can be captured on paper with a few simple elements: a start date, an end date, the tasks that have to be carried out and when they should be finished, and some idea of the resources (people, machines etc.) that will be needed during the course of this activity.

During this activity you will be utilizing the skills necessary to solve problems and think critically:
1) Problem Solving Skills: Is the ability to evaluate the entire situation from all angels, weigh your options and decisively implement a solution.
2) Critical Thinking Skills: Is the ability to “Think out of the box,” consequently it is beyond the concept of problem solving. To look beyond what the masses (everyone else) believe is true and correct, thus formulating innovative solutions.

GROUP BREAKDOWN:

One group member will be the "Leader" this person will be responsible for the overall guidance of the group members.

One group member will be the "Observer" this person can not interact with the group, they a re merely there to observe and take written notes on your progress. Write the name of each group member and their assigned title.

One group member will be the "Trader" this person will solely be responsible to trade inventory items with other groups in order to build your product and one group member will be the "Advisor" who can assist the Trader with making trades.

One group member will be the "Presenter" this person will verbally present the product to all the groups at the end.

All other persons will be “Members” of the group.

Use the back of this paper to describe each persons role in your group as identified in the above Group Breakdown and the task you have been assigned to
create by your instructor:
